![]() When we where building our house I had the builders scoop out from the hillside a flat area for a swimming pool. But,Alas,by the time we'd paid for the house no money was left for a pool. I started by planting my roses from my old garden all around the hill. It turned out the left end of the hill had a spring that drained across the back yard. So I planted my swamp rose there and all my Louisiana Iris (I had 16 yrs worth)across the front half of the back yard and brought in top soil (Big weedy mistake!)to create a large butterfly garden with a round grass center for Tai Chi. My husband's gift to me that year was making the gravel path all around the butterfly garden.Last year and this I started outlining the beds with cement retaining blocks. As you can see I'm almost there. The herb bed with the Passion vine was built last summer. The back patio has been a work in progress. I love my new red chairs and all the mini roses I added this spring. ![]()
